About the Producer

Honduras is a small country geographically, yet it sits as one of the largest producers of Arabica in the world. Honduras has quickly become the single largest producer of the commodity in Central America, rivalling neighbors Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua in seasonal production and competing with Ethiopia in regards to volume produced.

Contributing to their success is significant backing from local government in recent years, providing new resources and infrastructure to farmers. Honduras has its own national coffee institute (IHCAFE), who have established regional laboratories to grade and test the coffee quality. It is their aim to focus on refinement and the potential of specialty lots from remote areas.

HG, meaning ‘High Grown’, refers to coffee produced at heights between 1000-1200masl. HG contributes to 70% of the exported coffee from Honduras and is popularly used as a base or addition in coffee blends due to its consistent and well-rounded profile.
